Sharjah's Al Majaz Waterfront is gearing up for their most spectacular celebrations yet with a colossal firework display that will take over the night sky.
Sharjah's skies will be lit up with a 10-minute fireworks display that will create an outstanding portrait over a large space. The spectators will be able to enjoy it from a number of tourist destinations nearby, such as Al Noor Island, Al Montazah, Flag Island and Khalid Lagoon's Corniche. The New Year's celebrations will kick off with celebratory music filling the air. This will be accompanied by the fireworks, which will take the shape of the countdown to the new year and the number 2017 illuminating the skies over the emirate.
Mohammed Fadhel Al Mazrouei, manager of Al Majaz Waterfront said: "New Year's Eve is a time of great joy, and thus, we have been keen to organise this special event, which will the first-of-its-kind in Sharjah. We promise all visitors to Al Majaz Waterfront a memorable evening marked by good family-themed entertainment."
The Dh120 million Al Majaz Waterfront, which was launched in March 2012, is situated in Sharjah's most vital and commercial district on the Khalid Lagoon. The park recently completed a Dh35 million extension project that has added 53,000 square feet to its total area and includes 12 new restaurants and cafés. As part of the expansion project, Sharjah Fountain has been enlarged to overlook the series of dining outlets and an extra 165 parking spaces have been added to accommodate the needs of the park's increasing number of visitors.
