First bridal beauty contest in Dubai brings out the best in makeup, hairstyling and design

A unique bridal competition that brought out the best in makeup artists, hair stylists, and designers took place in Dubai this weekend. The UAE Bridal Beauty Championship 2017 was held for the first time at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel on Saturday evening. This competition was targeted at makeup artists, hair stylists, and designers in line with the bridal theme.
The participants were required to put the bridal looks on the models, and judges evaluated their design on a one-on-one basis. The creative artists were given one hour each to create the look. The winners of the show will get featured on a reality show called Fashionably You which will be launched on the Sony entertainment channel.
The winners will groom real people of the UAE on the show.
Though two participants flew down from Azerbaijan and Russia, most of the contestants were UAE residents, but of different nationalities. The organisers told City Times that this kind of a bridal concept event is happening for the first time in Dubai.
Lucky Morani, Dr. Mansoor Al Obeidli, and Sarah Belhasa were the celebrity judges of the event. Being an accomplished designer, actor, fashionista and entrepreneur, Lucky Morani was a natural choice for the judging panel. Morani gave us an insight into the event. "We had makeup artists, hair stylists and designers from all over the region competing and we chose the winners. I am honoured to be on the panel of the celebrity judges along with Sarah and others. We judged the makeup artists and the hair stylists who styled and presented their own creations. It was a great show because the makeup artists had models walking in their makeup, the hair stylists had models walking with their hair creations while the designers had models hitting the ramp in their designs. We chose model wise, hair style wise and makeup wise. It was a tough competition for the participants."
While congratulating the winners, Dr Mansoor also announced future events. "I congratulate all the winners of the makeup, hair style and clothes design of the championship. I would also like to announce our next three events for the next year. First one would be a makeup and hair style championship. It will be based on haute couture. Second one would be hair style, moustaches and beard championship for the male grooming. Third would be the most ambitious one called Abayas of the world."
Sarah Belhasa said she wants to give the winners a platform to showcase their talents. "This event was for makeup artists, hair stylists and designers. Since I come from the design field and have my own boutique, I will give them (the winners) a platform to stock in my studio. We do a lot of fashion shows. I would like to give the winner of hair and makeup talent a chance to be part of the fashion
shows that we do," she said.

But eventually, we will create more social media pages and put out our office addresses as well. My sister Arzu created this idea. She worked hard in the factory in China to create these products," Amane said.

"I am a film and theatre actor. I am also a designer and I have my own music company. The organisers wanted a Bollywood icon from Mumbai to be one of the judges on the panel, hence, here I am. I am wearing one of the collections from my own brand, Lucky Amane. We recently launched the brand in Dubai. It is a red carpet collection. We have been asked to take it to India (and Bollywood) and many other places, but we want to keep it international, hence we are only focusing on Dubai as of now," Lucky said.
