This Saudi man turned a saviour for a secondary school student whom he has never met when he donated one of his kidneys.
Mohammed Jomaah Al-Banna, 34, who works in a private sector, did not think twice when he decided to do the noble act and help the girl named Wijdan Al-Enezi who suffered from chronic kidney disease since she was six.
Al-Banna said that he donated his kidney to a complete stranger to help someone live a normal life and hopes that Allah will reward him for his deed. "I kept it to myself about the donation and did not inform anyone before the surgery," Al-Banna said, adding that his family members appreciated his actions.
The girl is said to have undergone dialysis for 10 years but her health suddenly deteriorated and kidney transplant was the only solution.
Al-Banna was adamant on his decision to donate his kidney and help someone in dire need. He said that he went to the King Salman Armed Forces Hospital in Tabuk and showed my desire to donate one of my kidneys to someone who is critical and in urgent need. The hospital suggested the girl's name who had lost all hopes to stay alive considering her grave condition.
The ailing girl's father Mubarak Al-Enezi, is quoted saying in the Arab News that he had left hopes for his daughter's survival until the news came to him that a stranger has agreed to donate his kidney.
"We lost all hopes of her survival. We could not see her suffering every day. But Al-Banna's deed has given my daughter a second life," Al-Enezi said, adding that words were not enough to thank him and show their appreciation.
