A passenger in a Light Rail Transit-1 (LRT-1) train hit the emergency button bringing the train to a sudden halt on Friday in Manila. It is alleged that the passenger who got on the fast tram, pressed the emergency button because his companion was left behind.
The incident is said to have occurred around 9.45 am, between 5th Avenue Station and R. Papa Station of the LRT-1, causing temporary panic among passengers.
Rod Bulario of the Light Rail Manila Corporation said, "He activated the door maybe because his companion was left behind so the train suddenly stopped."
According to reports in Inquirer.Net, Bulario stated that when the train supposedly 'normalized' the button, the train no longer responded and stopped.
"The train did not move so we hauled it to the Central where we have stabling tracks for the train to be repaired," Bulario said.
