Expressing revulsion against VIP culture that took the life of a 10-month-old infant in Karachi on Wednesday, PTI chief Imran Khan has declared that no traffic would be blocked for the sake of any public office holder in Khyber Pukhtunkhwa where his party rules.
"I will meet KPK Chief Minister Pervez Khattak in this regard. Traffic will not be stopped for any VIP protocol, even if it is the prime minister. We will start change from KPK."
"If you are so afraid to die, then stay home," said the PTI chief to those demanding protocol fearing for their lives.
He was addressing a big crowd in Lodhran gathered to celebrate the victory of his party in the by-election for NA-154.
Imran said the tragic death of the infant Bismah in Karachi has united the entire nation against the VIP culture just as it had united against terrorism a year ago over the horrific massacre of children of the Army Public School in Peshawar. "Terrorism has now been largely eliminated because of nation's resolve, so would be VIP culture," he added.
Imran said no traffic would be blocked even when the prime minister visits the province. This is a common practice in the Western democracies, he added.
The PTI chief thanked the people of Lodhran for delivering a huge win of more than 40,000 votes to his party by rejecting all temptations, pressures, state coercion and inducements. The outcome of the by-poll held under supervision of the army has proved the fact that the May 2013 polls were rigged.
Imran said he would continue the fight against corruption, injustice, poverty and ignorance in order to build a new Pakistan where common citizens would enjoy equal rights and respect.
Senior PTI leader Jehangir Tareen who won the by-poll vowed to work for development and progress of Lodhran adding that he would press for implementation of all promises made by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to voters of the district on the eve of the polls.
