A 42-year-old man, who gave nightmares to people sleeping on the pavements in Kerala's commercial hub of Cochin, has been arrested by the police.
The man, who has been identified as Kunjumon alias Xavier, was involved in the murder of many people who spent their nights on the footpaths and shop verandas. The 42-year-old Thevara native in the city had adopted 'ripper' style in committing the murders.
His modus operandi was to smash the heads of the victims sleeping on the sides of the roads using huge boulders in the middle of the night and rob them of their belongings. Police said they had received confirmation regarding his involvement in at least seven murders during the last two years. They are also trying to find out his role in two other similar murders in the city during this period. A senior police official said that they will also extend their investigation to the neighbouring states since Kunjumon used to work there.- news@khaleejtimes.com
