A letter purported to have been written by solar scam accused Saritha S Nair, levelling serious sexual allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and a former federal minister, has surfaced in a television channel on Sunday.
Asianet News channel reported that the letter Saritha had written during her police custody in March 2013 had alleged that Chandy had sexually abused her at Cliff House, his official residence in the state capital.
The letter also alleged that her solar firm had conducted several real estate transactions for the chief minister. She said that the firm had bought land worth millions of rupees for Chandy at Cochin.
The letter also alleged that a former federal minister had raped her at the residence of a state minister and the personal assistant of Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala had tried to present her to many people.
Saritha has stood by her letter. She told the channel that all the allegations contained in the letter were true and she had not submitted the letter to the judicial commission probing the scam due to personal reasons.
She said that she was ready to produce the letter and the required evidence to a credible investigating agency. Saritha said that she would take legal action for a Central Bureau of Investigation into the scam.
The sexual allegation against Chief Minister was also raised by her live-in and business partner Biju Radhakrishnan. He had told the solar commission that he had CDs to prove the charge. However, he failed to produce the same when the commission gave him an opportunity.
The chief minister has termed the fresh allegations politically motivated. He said that it was the last attempt to torpedo his government.
However, the opposition has viewed the revelation seriously. Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan has demanded registration of a case and a high level investigation against Chandy based on the letter.
Saritha had written the letter after a magistrate refused to record her statement. Though the original letter contained 23 pages, only an abridged version was submitted to the court.
There were allegations that Saritha had avoided serious allegations against ministers and ruling front leaders after they promised to help her in overcoming the cheating cases registered against on the complaints of investors, from whom her firm had taken money for solar power solutions.
