Heat wave kills 21, injures 66 in Egypt

Twenty-one elderly people have died and 66 others suffered heat exhaustion after a heat-wave swept across Egypt.
The Middle East News Agency, MENA, today quoted the Ministry of Health which in a statement said that the high temperatures claimed the lives of 15 people and injured 40 others in Cairo alone, four in Matrouh city and two in the Upper Egyptian city of Qena.
Many of the injury victims were admitted and then released from hospital while others still remain under observation, the ministry said.
The temperature reached 45 degrees Celsius in the Upper Egypt governorates on Saturday, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority. The heat wave is expected to continue until August 25th.
