A statement from the Muscat Municipality has reminded people about the rules in place governing littering at tourist spots and has clarified that barbecues would only be allowed in designated spots.
According to the Times of Oman, those who break these rules will have to pay a fine of 100 Omani riyals (Dh 953).
Boards announcing the fine have been placed and repeat offenders will have their fine doubled. In addition to the fine, the violators will also have to clean up the spot.
The rules on barbecuing were announced in January this year to prevent fire hazards to gardens, parks and public places.
