 Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif has vowed to exterminate terrorists from every nook and corner of the country.
"We are determined and will go to any length to finish all pockets of terrorists from any nook and cranny of the country," General Raheel Sharif said.
The army chief made the remarks during a visit to Peshawar on Sunday where he attended funeral prayers and offered fateha for soldiers who were martyred in Shawal on Saturday during an encounter with terrorists.
At least 19 militants and four military men, including an officer, were killed during an armed clash between terrorists and army troops in Shawal Valley of North Waziristan Agency on Saturday.
Captain Umair Abbasi was among the army personnel died in the shootout.
According to an Inter-Services Public Relations statement, funeral prayers were offered at Corps Headquarters which were also attended by senior civil and military leadership. General Raheel Sharif expressed solidarity with the bereaved families and later visited the injured soldiers at CMH Peshawar. Later, the COAS visited the Corps Headquarters where he was briefed by Corps Commander Lt Gen Hidayat-ur-Rehman about the progress of operation against terrorists in Shawal.
General Raheel expressed his complete satisfaction over the final push in North Waziristan to evict terrorists from isolated pockets of Shawal.
