Dubai Tourism to promote Kerala as tourist destination

Dubai Tourism has decided to promote Kerala as a destination, a top official said after meeting Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Saturday.
Director of Dubai Tourism Majid Al Marri, on his first visit to Kerala along with his deputy, and Chandy had an aerial view of the tourism sites in and around the capital district for an hour.
Later, Marri and his delegation called on Chandy at his official residence and held discussions on the way to go ahead.
"We saw a bit of the places and the Jatayupara Adventure Park is impressive. We are planning to promote Kerala in Dubai. In future, we would also look for investing here. This is our first visit to Kerala and we will return with plans," said Marri after the meeting.
Chandy told the media that this was an exploratory visit for having a feel of Kerala.
"What we are working out is a comprehensive plan to work jointly to promote our state in Dubai. They will come back soon," the chief minister added.
The Rs100 crore Jatayupara Adventure Park, located about 30 km from the capital city, which the Dubai team saw is set up among hard rocky mountains as tall as 1,000 feet and spread out over 30 acres of land.
The park, conceived and developed under the supervision of sculptor and film director Rajiv Anchal, will be opened very soon.
It includes 40 activities associated with rock climbing and will function under trained and certified staff.
