DVD Reviews
The Intern (2015) (PG-13)
We've seen variations of the whole elder-folk-working-for-younger-bosses before (anyone remember 2004 flick In Good Company?), but they always manage to pique interest. This time around, it's 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker (De Niro) who decides he's had enough of retirement and wants to get back in the game. Hilarity, predictably, ensues when he finally gets a job - as an intern for Jules Ostin (Hathaway) who has founded a fast-growing e-commerce fashion startup. Watching the two polar opposites bond makes for one heart-warming film.
Duration: 121 minutes
Genre: Comedy
What's good: The on-screen chemistry is perfect
What's bad: Very predictable
Cast: Robert De Niro, Anne Hathaway, Rene Russo
Rating: 3

True Detective Season 2 (2014-) (TV-MA)
If you were blown away by the first season, you will be thrilled to know that True Detective is back - only this time around it features a brand new plot and actors. An unusual crime has taken place - a man has been found sitting on a park bench, dead. Follow Detective Ray Velcoro (Farrell) who is on a bit of a downward spiral; Sheriff Ani Bezzerides, who has a bit of a complicated family situation; and highway patrolman Woodrugh, as they try to solve the mystery. Eerie music, a gothic setting, and incredible acting makes this as addictive as the previous season.
Duration: 55 minutes x 8 episodes
Genre:Crime/ Drama/ Mystery
What's good: The overall acting and plot
What's bad: More focus on personal matters rather than the crime
Cast: Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch
Rating: 3.5
