Tea and empathy
This is a tea set of immense possibilities. You can serve kahwa in this, and also post-prandial green (or jasmine) tea. The best part about this set is that it looks stunning - could even work as a piece of home decor (imagine this on a mantelpiece!). Talk about mixing leisure with pleasure.

Let me get myself a dress sense
The UAE's innate style cues are all boxed into this book - Sultani: Traditions Renewed, by art and design consultant Dr Reem El Mutwalli. This coffee-table book explores the evolution of women's traditional dresses from 1966 through 2004 - in context of the geographical, social, political and economic influences of the region. Time to get acquainted with how fashion came of age here!

The beauty of plating
This D'Orient piece of art is probably too pretty to eat out of. But if I'm feeling really fancy, because of the company or the occasion, I may be tempted (I'll be a bit freaked out while washing up, don't want to let it get a chip on its round shoulders). Alternatively, I'll be quite content to let it hang from the wall - or make it the centrepiece at the dinner table (without getting it dirty). Absolutely lerve the pattern (like a birdsong!) and the colour scheme.

Chocolate-faced
Like almost everyone else, I cannot resist the lure of chocolates - especially if it's all thoughtfully sorted so you don't have to make choices (how does one choose one from the other - don't you want to grab them all?). The Marks &Spencer Swiss Chocolate Gift Bag has an amazing assortment of milk chocolate (still my fave pick, not such a big fan of the darker version): discs, truffles and even a white mountain bar! Maybe I'll pick up two bags and gift the second one to someone I really love!

My personal bodyguard at home
I just love Pan Emirates: they somehow manage to make 'homely' stuff so pick-me-up! This woody man from (what looks like) the age of chivalry and royalty could be strategically placed at home. The colours and the contouring are classic yet quirky. I'm sure my new bodyguard will prove to be great company too!
