How effective is mayonnaise in treating split ends?
— Aysha
Mayonnaise is a rich and moisturising protein, excellent for split and dry ends. You can apply this to dry hair and wear a shower cap. Rinse off with water after some time. Avoid taking very hot showers. And don’t use hot dryers or tongs either, as these cause hair damage.
I am 16 years old and have dark circles as well as swollen under-eye areas. I tried using the cucumber remedy but to no avail. Please suggest an alternative.

Grate raw potato and smear it on the affected area for 20 minutes every day. When sleeping, rest an extra pillow under your neck to drain out the swelling under the eyes. Place warm and cold tea bags alternately on your eyes. Drink a glass of warm lemon juice mixed with honey and a pinch of black pepper to detoxify skin and reduce puffiness. Eating half a banana daily also helps.
I’m a 26-year-old suffering from hair fall and dandruff. I’ve used many different shampoos to tackle these problems, but none have worked for me. Could you please suggest the best solution for me?

Take 2 tablespoons of yoghurt and mix with 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Massage this into the scalp. Shampoo after an hour with a fruit or protein shampoo. Brush your hair daily before going to bed; also, clean the brush regularly so that any dandruff caught in it does not go back into your hair.
For over five years, the first thing I do every Friday is grab the wknd. magazine to read your tips. I have mild facial hair on my cheeks, as well as on my upper lip. I’m scared of threading, waxing, and laser, and would like your natural tips. Also, how do I close open pores to get clearer skin?

I’m blessed to have such dedicated readers. For open pores, combined with gentle hair removal treatment, take 1 tablespoon of cooked oats, add lemon juice and a pinch of turmeric to it, and apply thickly on the face. When the mask dries, scrub against the facial hair growth, then rinse with iced water. Do this every day.
I am 25 years old. Seven months ago, I had done a hair smoothening treatment, and now suffer from severe hair loss, dandruff (only in the crown area), oily scalp and dry hair. Please suggest a good remedy.

Steam your hair twice a week, after massaging your scalp with warm, extra virgin oil mixed with 1 tablespoon of lemon juice — this is very helpful remedy. Two tablespoons of avocado purée, mixed with 1 tablespoon of vinegar and 1 tablespoon of olive oil also makes a great hair repair mask. This should ideally be done once or twice a week, in addition to the extra virgin olive oil treatment.
