I have facial hair. The egg white-and-corn flour treatment is not working for me, so please suggest another treatment to help me get rid of my facial hair.
- Rukhsar
Take turmeric and oats powder, in equal proportion, and add to (room temperature) rice starch. Apply this pack on dry skin; when it dries out, scrub against hair growth. This is an excellent home treatment for clearing facial hair. Do this once a week.
I am a young girl and a great fan of your column. I have a few problems and queries... (1) Hair fall - whenever I comb my hair, a lot of hair falls out. (2) There is a small white discoloration on my face. (3) You have suggested waxing to remove hair on legs. Can it be done at home? (4) Where can I get aloe vera in the UAE?

Thank you for being a great fan! Hair fall may be due to poor diet, hormonal imbalance or body stress. (1) Massage aloe vera gel and lemon juice on the scalp, and leave overnight. This cleanses the scalp, making it healthy so your hair is stronger. (2) White discolouration may be due to dandruff, or a poor diet. Pat apple cider vinegar on the white patch and leave on overnight. If you notice a difference after a week, continue the treatment till the patch disappears. If there is no change, please consult a dermatologist. (3) Yes, waxing can be done at home - just make sure the wax is at a tolerable temperature so the skin does not burn. Ready DIY kits are available at the supermarket. (4) Aloe vera gel can be bought at pharmacies or supermarkets. or you may also grow an aloe vera plant at home.

I'm a 14-year-old girl and have some problems. (1) My hair looks really good but the volume is very less. I feel hair falls more when it's oiled. (2) Since I was 9, the inner sides of my feet have been very dry and skin peels off. The areas are also very itchy and, at times, there's bleeding when I scratch. Please suggest remedies to cure or at least reduce these problems.

(1) There is nothing wrong with oiling your hair. To get full volume: after shampooing, towel dry hair and then massage aloe vera gel with a few drops lemon juice to scalp and hair; 10 minutes later, rinse with room temperature water. When dry, your hair will have great volume and bounce. (2) Such acute dry skin needs a daily treatment. Before retiring for the night, fill a basin with water; add 1 tablespoon oats powder and 1 teaspoon Epsom salt to it. Dip your feet in it for 10 minutes. Damp dry the feet, and dot a few drops of castor oil on the dry areas. Wear cotton socks, and leave on overnight. You will notice an improvement soon enough.
I am an 11-year-old girl and I have a lot of dandruff - which is very evident whenever I tie my hair into a ponytail. I also have severe hair fall and split ends. I tried applying aloe vera gel, egg yolk and tea tree oil, but it did not work. Kindly suggest some remedies.

Yoghurt has anti-bacterial properties, so applying a yoghurt mask twice a week will definitely help you. Massaging enough amount on your scalp and leave on for 30 minutes; this will clear dandruff, arrest hair fall and repair hair ends (thus reducing split ends).
