I am 30 years old; and I'm 7 months pregnant. I get my hair permanently straightened every year, but this year I'm a bit reluctant to do it, and now my hair is going back to being curly. I really hate the way it is right now as I can't do any styling with it. Can you please help me? Are there any oils I can use to make my hair less frizzy and naturally straight? Also, I have dark circles around my eyes, and dark underarms. Please suggest some remedies for these problems as well.
- Shruthi
Take 2 tablespoons of aloe vera, and mix it with 1 tablespoon of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice; apply this on your hair and comb through it; keep on for an hour, then rinse with cold water - not warm water. Do this thrice a week after shampooing (instead of using a conditioner). For dark circles and dark underarms, take raw potato pulp; rub on underarms and apply around the eyes. It lightens, tones and brightens the skin. Do this thrice a week. I am happy to know that you are careful not to use chemicals during your pregnancy. Have a happy, healthy pregnancy and an even happier, healthier baby!
I am a 15-year-old girl, and I used to walk from school to the metro station - which has left me quite tanned. I'll be travelling to India next month for a wedding and I want to get rid of this tan. Can you please suggest a remedy?

Take 1 tablespoon yoghurt, quarter teaspoon turmeric powder, half teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon honey - and beat everything together. Add powdered oats, and apply this mask onto your face, neck and hands. When it dries, rinse with warm water; follow with cold water. This mask helps cleanse, brighten and give a glow to your skin. Do this daily, you will see amazing results!
I am a young girl with really dark knees and elbows: can you recommend an easy and fast remedy using simple ingredients? I also have acne on my nose and it is spreading to my cheeks. What can I do to have clear and light skin?
- Mariah
For your dark knees and elbows: take fresh coconut milk and mix it with rice powder; apply the mix on affected areas and, when dry, scrub off with cold tap water. Do this every day for quick results. You can apply the same mask to your face to lighten it. Avoid rinsing with hot water, use ice-cold water instead. For acne: apply a honey-and-cinnamon mask every day; leave on for 30 minutes and rinse with cold water.
I am a 16-year-old boy. I have a lot of hair on my hands, legs and chest. Please suggest a remedy.
- Name withheld
I would not worry too much about having hair on your hands, legs or chest as this is only natural. When you are older, you could get your body waxed from a reputed clinic or even get laser treatment done. But if you are still keen to do a natural treatment at home, then take egg white and mix it with corn flour to make a sticky paste. Apply this on your body; when dry, scrub against hair growth. Do this thrice a week; you may be happy with the result.
I am a 12-year-old girl, and suffer from head lice and dandruff in my silky hair. Can you suggest a way to get rid of them quickly?
- Athulya
Take 2 tablespoons of yoghurt, add 1 teaspoon of neem oil, and massage it on your scalp. Leave on for an hour; then, comb hair, and rinse off first with water, followed by a mild shampoo. Do this twice a week.
