I'm 13 years old with medium length hair, but my hair grows slowly and I have always wanted long hair. I've also started to get pimples on my face and I don't know what to do. I have blackheads on my nose, and it's become oily too. Please suggest some homemade remedies.

You can try steaming your hair and face twice a week. Follow that with a mask made of corn flour and rice flour, in equal amounts, including honey with rose water, for your face. When it dries, scrub your face, concentrating on the areas with blackheads. For your hair, brush it before steaming. This helps activate your blood circulation and improves hair growth. Massage 1 tablespoon of onion juice mixed with 2 tablespoons coconut milk into your scalp. After an hour, shampoo off with a herbal or protein shampoo. Continue these treatments for quick and effective relief. Pimples can be treated with aloe vera and lemon juice, in equal parts. Massage this mixture on your face and leave it on overnight. Do this every day and your skin will brighten and clear up.

I am 21 years old, with a small mole on my cheek for as long as I can remember. I just want to get rid of it. Any home remedies?

Moles, if small and on your face, enhance your beauty, but if it bothers you, castor oil is a very good solution. Dip a small piece of cotton in castor oil; tape over the mole and leave overnight. Do this till you notice it shrinking. This treatment has different  results on different skin types, but it will not hurt to give this treatment a shot for sure.

I am a soon to be 15-year-old teen with many problems with my hair. It is thinning vigorously. A doctor recommended a shampoo but it has no effect. My hair gets really dry after shampooing and I've had to cut it short because of the hair fall. Please suggest some remedies.

Hair fall is due to many reasons: poor nutrition can be the most important of them all. Massage 2 tablespoons of well-beaten banana mixed with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon fenugreek powder into your scalp. Rinse thoroughly and shampoo. Do this thrice a week. Hair will improve and hair fall problem resolved. Bananas are rich in potassium, iron, protein and amino acids that cleanse, calm and nourish the scalp.

I am a 32-year-old housewife and read your column regularly. My family and I moved to the UAE two years ago, and since then, I have experienced hair fall. I use water filters in my shower and take thyroid medication; my weight is on the higher side. But over the last year, my hair fall has become extreme. Please suggest a remedy to grow my hair back.

Castor oil is a miracle oil that improves scalp disorders. Take 2 tablespoons of castor oil and add 1 egg yolk and 1 tablespoon honey. Beat them all together. If you wish to avoid egg, replace it with coconut milk or yoghurt; beat well, massage into scalp and hair. Keep on for at least two hours. Wear a cotton cap to keep the treatment in place. Shower off and let hair dry naturally. Do this twice a week to arrest hair fall and give it lots of body.
