All About Anime
Can't wait until the next Middle East Film and Comic Con to dress up? Now, you won't have to. The Alliance, which brought us MEFCC and Games Middle East, has launched ANI:ME, the region's biggest Anime Expo and Japanese culture festival. To take place at du Forum, Yas Island, from October 27-29, this is one event pop culture fans will not want to miss. Featuring some of the biggest J-Pop/Rock bands, 'anisong' legends, creators of popular anime and manga titles as well as cosplayers, artists and voice actors, there's something for everyone. Visitors will also be able to explore elements of Japanese culture, such as calligraphy, sword fighting and amezaiku candy-making. Don't forget to dress up - the best cosplayer of the event will be sent to Japan to compete in the world finals of the World Cosplay Summit! If you're looking for tickets, they are on sale at Virgin Megastores and through the Ticketmaster website.

A Fang-tastic Watch
Get into the spooky mood with a viewing of Dracula, performed by the award-winning Danu Group at the Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC. The dramatic retelling promises to restore the thrill of vampires and will see residents of London try to save themselves from a spine-chilling fate. Brimming with humour and horror, this is the perfect way to get in the Halloween spirit. The event will take place on October 28 and 29 and tickets can be purchased from www.ductac.org.

Discover India through dance
If you're wondering what to do this weekend, Indian actor and dancer, Shobana, is all set to wow UAE audiences with her latest production 'Trance - Dancing Drums'. With two shows set to take place at Centrepoint Theatre, DUCTAC, October 21-22, the event is part of her quest to present Indian performing arts with a blend of poetry, and pre-recorded and live music. As she dances along to the music interwoven with Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam songs, the performance may very well leave you in a trance. Tickets are available at all UAE Exchange outlets, on www.platinumlist.net and at www.ductac.etixdubai.com.

For the kids
Here's a cool way to keep the kids entertained - take them to the newly-opened FabyLand. The fun destination, launched by Al-Othain Leisure and Tourism Co in Dubai Festival City, is open every day from 10am to midnight, and has a variety of attractions to delight your children. There are also great attractions to help you bond as a family including bumper cars and family swings. Meanwhile, older kids will love the more extreme rides such as Air Racer, Mini Discovery, Top Dancer and Drop n Twist Tower. There's a lot to do and not enough time - so don't be surprised if the kids don't want to leave when it's over. For more information, visit www.fabyland.ae.

Show your support
Tips & Toes recently welcomed influential UAE-based personalities to create their own pink manicure designs for breast cancer awareness, all of which can be recreated for customers throughout October. If that's not enough, they've also launched Pink Ladies packages throughout the month, starting from Dh220, with Dh25 being donated to charity. Supporting a cause has never been so relaxing and pampering.
