Humidity is expected to range between 10 per cent and 75 per cent today
Officials confirmed that there were no diversions, unlike Wednesday which saw 21 flights being diverted and three cancellations.
The fog was not as thick on Thursday as it was on Wednesday, but low visibility continued to play havoc on roads with drivers on Shaikh Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and right up to Jebel Ali being severely inconvenienced.
The fog is being attributed to factors such as a rise in humidity, low temperatures in the region, especially at night and in the early hours, as also a low wind speed.
Motorists are warned to be cautious and observe traffic rules while driving in fog. In a statement on Thursday, the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) said thick fog, while on a decline, is still building up on roads, reducing visibility in many parts of the country. Motorists are advised also to drive carefully and leave safe space between vehicles to avoid accidents.
The NCMS also stated that over the weekend, the relative humidity will increase during night and early morning over coastal and internal areas, with a persisting chance of mist and fog in some areas.
