A Pakistani worker has been sentenced to three months in jail for molesting a woman at night outside her place.
The 23-year-old worker is believed to have taken advantage of the fact that the woman was by herself at that time to harass, hug and grope her. The Court of First Instance ordered his deportation. The case dates back to February 28.
The complainant, a 26-year-old Filipina employee, said she was walking home to her apartment in Al Quoz shortly before midnight when she spotted the accused near the entrance.
"He began talking to me and asked for my number, but I did not respond."
The accused then allegedly offered her money to see him, but still she ignored him.
"He kept following me and said he only wanted to get to know me." He then grabbed her hands and pulled her towards him trying to kiss her by force, she claimed.
As she screamed and pushed him away, he grabbed her neck and she felt she could not breathe. She screamed for help when she spotted a man walking towards them. He fled the scene as she called the police. The verdict may be appealed.
