Keralites in the city of Kannur had their lives endangered when a wild leopard went loose.
According to the Times of India, three people were attacked by the carnivorous animal and all have been admitted to the district hospital. Quoting local residents, the leopard was first spotted in the nearby railway line. It attacked a grazing cow in the area. Two boys who came to check on the cow were suddenly attacked by the beast. A worker who attempted to rescue the two boys was also mauled by the leopard.
The animal then made its way around the city's backways. It was here that police and forest officials attempted to secure the leopard. They put out a perimeter net to prevent the beast from escaping. After a seven hour chase, the leopard was subdued using a tranquilizer gun. It was then shifted to a cage from a local wildlife team with a certified veterinarian.
