The police recently contacted the Ministry of Community Development for the same.
“A ‘To whom it may concern’ certificate is also issued to those who have stopped using narcotics,” said Col Sultan Khalid Al Qasimi, Head of Technical Support of the Anti-Narcotics Department, RAK police. “This certificate is meant to help them join their previous work, and have a salary and a stable life.”
Col Al Qasimi said the department spares no effort to rehabilitate and integrate reformed drug addicts in society. “They are all subjected to regular check-ups to make sure that they don't use drugs again."
As per article 43 of the federal anti-narcotics law, no lawsuit shall be filed against any drug abuser who willingly seeks help from the police or public prosecution.
Col Sultan also listed six main reasons why a person becomes a drug addict:
>> Bad friends
>> Excess free time
>> Unemployment
>> Family disputes
>> Travelling abroad and mixing with strangers there
>> Curiosity to try something new.
