A UAE reading club is taking kids to outer space with a special series of virtual storytelling sessions this month, the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) announced on Monday, July 13.
To mark the historic launch of the UAE's Hope Probe to Mars on Wednesday, the department said the Kalima Reading Club will feature a number of exciting books about space and the solar system in its upcoming virtual reading sessions.
Science experts and professionals passionate about space exploration will be reading stories in Arabic, with visual effects and background musing bringing the prose to life. Sessions will be streamed via Kalima's social channels every Friday at 5pm.
Among the speakers lined up for the next three weeks are award-winning engineer Diana Al Sindy, who will be reading 'A Planetary Adventure' by Hye-young Lee; research expert Dr Mishkan Mohammed Al Awar, who will share 'Don't Follow Me' by Eun Hong Jung; and Arab Reading Challenge champ Muzna Najeeb, who will take attendees into a 'Journey throughout Space' with a story by Seung-Yoon Kang. The special series is part of the club's 'We Read for Children' initiative.
"The Kalima Translation Project is celebrating the efforts of the UAE in the space race," said Abdullah Majed Al Ali, executive director of the Dar Al Kutub sector at DCT Abu Dhabi.
