The Abu Dhabi Federal Court of Appeal on Wednesday ruled that a case of a 24-year-old woman, who allegedly posted an abusive video on Snapchat, did not fall within its jurisdiction.

The woman is accused of posting a video clip, in which she abused the Ajman Police. The court ordered the case be sent back to the public prosecution so the latter could refer the case to the competent court. The court also heard a number of cases that pertain to state security.
In the first case, the court charged three Arab suspects: B.M.H., W.M.H., and A.M.H., with being in the UAE after joining terror groups of Daesh, Al Nusra Front and Ahrar Al Sham in Syria.
The trio has also been involved in providing the terror groups with weapons and ammunitions. They also incited young men in the UAE to join the groups.

The court adjourned the case to October 25, 2017 based on a request by the defense lawyer so the court could listen to the pleading of the defense.
In the second case, the court listened to defence lawyer Ali Al Mannaie, who appeared for GCC national H.A.M.Sh. He is accused of attempting to join the Daesh group and travelling to Thailand to communicate with undercover members of the group. He is also charged with attempting to travel to Syria via Turkey to join Daesh.
The lawyer demanded the acquittal of his client, saying he had travelled to Thailand to receive medication for a chronic disease. He also produced medical reports issued by some hospitals to prove his claims.
The court adjourned the case to October 25 to pass a verdict.
In another case, the court listened to the prosecution witness, who is the investigating officer in a case where GCC citizen S.Th.M.S. is accused of creating accounts on Twitter and WhatsApp to raise public opinion against the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. He is also charged with posting video clips and articles to promote the ideologies of Daesh and Al Qaeda in Syria and Yemen, urging youths to join the groups.
The defence lawyer, Hamdan Al Zaoudi, urged the court to adjourn the case so he could prepare his arguments. Responding to his demand, the court deferred the case to October 25.

Espionage cases

The state security prosecution raised the charge of espionage for Iran against two suspects: A.M.H.R and S.M.A., who are working for a security entity. They are charged with communicating with an Iranian intelligence officer who works at the Iranian consulate in Dubai with critical information about key security places, which could hurt the security of the UAE.
The duo is also accused of posting offensive articles against Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and repulsive words against national symbols of the UAE and its armed forces on social media. The case has also been adjourned to October 25.
In another case, an employee at a company affiliated to the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company is charged with spying for Iran and providing an Iranian intelligence officer with maps, photos and confidential information about the location of an oil field in Abu Dhabi.
The suspect denied the charge before the court. The court adjourned the case to October 25.
