Dubai has launched a free WiFi service on board 106 Intercity Buses to Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
In a media statement, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said that the step is part of its endeavours to bring added happiness to customers by making their daily mobility on board its advanced transit modes an enjoyable experience.
The RTA added that it is committed to realise the objectives of the Smart Dubai City through this initiative.
"The service enables inter-city bus riders to surf the Internet through their portable devices, tablets or smartphones; and process several tasks in transit; a time-saving exercise," said Abdullah Yousef Al Ali, CEO of RTA Public Transport Agency.
He noted that the WiFi service, introduced in coordination with Etisalat, will be subject to a continuous assessment with a view to expanding and improving the scope of the service.
"This constructive cooperation will offer inter-city bus riders a free high-speed internet service via their portable devices and smartphones. The experience will enable them utilize their time spent on board our buses," said Salvador Anjlada, CEO of Business Sector, Etisalat.
