Users of Sharjah buses will need to pay more for city trips from December 1. According to the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) website, the bus fare will be increased by Dh1 on all city routes.
Passengers will have to pay Dh7 instead of Dh6 as fare, while Sayer card holders will pay Dh5.5 instead of Dh4.5. The move will offset "escalating operational expenses", Sharjah RTA sources said.
Frequent users of Sharjah buses have expressed concern over the fare hike. Mohammed Ashraf, an Egyptian resident, said: "I take the bus every day, and hope the fare hike is cancelled."
