The Sharjah Department of Public Works has undertaken more than 700 health, educational, housing and services development projects worth over Dh3 billion in different parts of the emirate.
Abdullah Noman, head of supervision at the department of building projects, said that next year would see construction of many buildings including the Dh30 million Sharjah Educational Zone, the Dh60 million Manuscripts House at Al Qasimia University, and two new mosques - one costing Dh20 million and the other Dh21 million.
He told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that selection of Sharjah as the first Healthy City in the region by the World Health Organisation earlier this year, requires the department to adopt new standards and specifications for its projects. - Wam
