Sharjah soon to have electrical car recharging station

Sharjah - Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority to launch the first electrical vehicle charging station in the emirate

Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa) is planning to launch the first electrical vehicle charging station in the emirate.
Dr. Rashid Alleem, Chairman of Sewa, said that the electrical vehicles which produce zero carbon emissions will be used in the services provided by Sewa to ensure the best possible environment in the emirate.
He said that the launch of the electrical charging station is based on the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah. The project is also in line with Sewa's vision of sustainability and power saving goals.
Alleem added that the electrical vehicles will be added to the Sewa fleet and residents will be encouraged to use electrical cars.
Hussein Kada, the Manager of Sewa's Transport Department, said that the project helps Sewa's continuous commitment to modernise its transport fleet comprising 600 vehicles, including 350 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) vehicles that save 30 per cent of fuel and reduce carbon emissions by 80 per cent.
Rafael Garton, the General Manager of Renault France affirmed the readiness of Renault to cooperate with Sewa and supply the most state-of-the-art models of electric cars saving 30 per cent of fuel as compared to petrol cost and 50 per cent of maintenance expenses.
The life cycle of the recyclable electric batteries ranges between 8 and 10 years
