A manager, who allegedly threatened to kill two ex-colleagues and hurt their families back home, stood trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.
According to public prosecution records, the 49-year-old Indian man was left frustrated, following his sacking from the contracting firm, where both complainants, also Indians, work. In March 31, last year, he went to his former workplace asking for some files. The defendant allegedly issued death threats to an ex-colleague who would not respond to his request. He made similar threats against another manager and his family.
Prosecutors accused him of making criminal threats and trespassing.
The first complainant, a 34-year-old employee, said that the defendant was terminated from their firm in 2017, following a unanimous decision taken by the partners.
"Around 10:30am on the day of the incident, the defendant came to our office in Al Nahda. The other victim and witnesses were present there. He wanted me to hand him over documents and papers of ongoing projects.
"I turned his demand down, telling him I had no permission to deliver such documents, from the administration and business partners. He began yelling and then threatened to kill me if he did not get those files. He also said he knew the location of my family back home and would send people to hurt them. We lodged a complaint at Al Qusais police station."
A 37-year-old Indian accounting manager said that he received similar death threats from the accused after he denied him entry into the firm.
The trial continues on February 26.
