Reading corner at Sharjah Airport

A reading corner has been set up at the Sharjah International Airport, in the main terminal building, where passengers can spend their spare time at the departure lounge reading their favourite books or mgazines.
The new facility has been developed by the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development as part of initiatives to celebrate 2016 as the Year of Reading.
The Ministry has also provided a collection of books to the reading corner, which is part of the larger initiative to create libraries inside UAE airports, aimed at promoting the culture of reading among UAE nationals and residents.
The books have been curated keeping in mind the diversity of the passengers' interests, backgrounds, and age.
Afra Al Sabri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Knowledge Development, said that the Ministry, under the guidance of Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, is keen to provide and create reading corners at airports, to enable travellers enjoy a better experience.
Ali Salem Al Madfaa, chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, said, "Providing books and publications at the Sharjah International Airport enables a large group of employees, passengers and airport users to enrich their knowledge, and enjoy reading during their time spent at the airport, which receives more than 10 million passengers a year."
