Petroleum prices for December down by up to 2.2%

Abu Dhabi - The committee meets on the 28th of every month to decide on the petroleum prices for the next month.

The petroleum prices for the month of December have been further reduced by up to 2.2 per cent from November, as oil's decline continued on the international market.

The UAE Ministry of Energy's high level committee headed by the Dr Matar Al Nayadi, the Undersecretary took the decision on Thursday, ahead of the National Day holidays beginning on Sunday. The committee meets on the 28th of every month to decide on the petroleum prices for the next month.

The diesel prices dropped to Dh1.83 a liter from Dh1.87 in November; Octane-91 or E-Plus slipped to Dh1.61 a liter from Dh1.63 a litre last month; Octane 95 or Special was fixed at Dh1.68 a liter from D1.70 a month ago ; while Octane- 98 or Super was lowered to Dh1.79 a litre from Dh1.81 in previous month.

The average daily basket of OPEC rose to $39.81 a barrel on Wednesday after showing a rise since past two days.
However, the monthly average basket price in November saw a declining trend at $40.71 a barrel down from $45.02 a barrel in October when it rose slightly from $44.83 a barrel in a month ago period.
