Large parts of a traditional market in Fujairah were destroyed during the heavy rain and strong winds over the last couple of days.
Many parts of the emirate, particularly the valleys and mountainous areas, were affected by the floods, according to Mohammed Ismail, an Emirati.

"Thunderstorms lashed so many areas, including Dibba Al Hisn, Dibba Al Fujairah, Kalba, and Khor Fakkan," he said.
The National Center of Meteorology recorded 53.4mm of rainfall at Fujairah Port, 42.6mm at Khor Fakkan, 36mm at Masafi, 32.6mm at Dibba Al Fujairah town, and 31.8mm in the Diddana area.
Parking canopies, external doors, road barriers and signboards have been destroyed by the heavy showers and high winds, according to Major General Mohammed Ahmed bin Ghanem, Commander-in-Chief of Fujairah Police.

"Some trees were uprooted by the strong winds which killed some sheep in farms in the mountain areas," he said, noting that no human casualties were reported.
"However, some outlets at the traditional markets of the emirate were partially destroyed by the strong winds and heavy showers."
Eng Mohammed Saif, Director General of the Fujairah Municipality, said they have deployed their teams, tankers and pumping machines to drain out all accumulated water.
"The municipal teams have removed many falling trees, signboards, barriers, and debris from several public roads."
The Fujairah Municipality is also to rebuild and develop the traditional market to be stronger, as well as wind and rain resistant, he said.
"The planned facelift it to preserve the traditional image of the market which is the oldest in the emirate."
