Travellers flying out of Dubai can now get screened for Covid-19 at home or any other location in the emirate, thanks to a new initiative.
UAE authorities announced last week that citizens and residents are required to take a Covid-19 test before travelling abroad. A negative result, which is valid only within 48 hours, must be presented.
To help travellers with this flight check-in requirement, DUBZ - dnata's baggage technology and logistics company - introduced the Covid-19 screening service, which can provide a medical certificate within 24 to 48 hours of testing.
When a test is booked, a team of medical professionals will visit a customer and perform the swab test at his/her convenience. Samples are then tested in a laboratory and the results are shared with customers digitally. The Covid testing services are delivered by healthcare provider Mediclinic.
Omar Abou Faraj, CEO and co-founder of DUBZ, said: "We are delighted to join forces with a trusted healthcare provider to offer another innovative service to Dubai travellers. Our partnership with Mediclinic underlines our commitment to ensuring a safe, hassle-free travel experience for customers. We continue to work hard to deliver innovative solutions that make a difference."
David Hadley, CEO Mediclinic Middle East, said: "Mediclinic is delighted to partner with DUBZ on this new initiative which will enable people to start travelling safely, with peace of mind that they are healthy, and that they have undergone testing with the minimum amount of contact before their flight."
Through DUBZ, travellers can complete the entire check-in process from home - from printing boarding passes to weighing and tagging their luggage and transporting it to the airport. All baggage is treated with disinfectant to remove any germs and provide protection from microbes for up to 72 hours.
At the airport, customers are then by meet-and-greet agents who fast-track them through immigration. Each agent wears gloves and a mask, and abides by social distancing guidelines while assisting passengers.
This home check-in service can be booked online on DUBZ.com from only Dh199. Services are available from 8am to 9pm, seven days a week. Services can also be booked at the DUBZ Luggage Concierge on the ground floor of The Dubai Mall.
