UAE motorists will no longer be charged an additional Dh2 when using their credit card at petrol stations across the country.
The decision was made by the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection at the Ministry of the Economy, which has instructed all the UAE fuel distribution and supply companies to comply.

Additionally, the committee has also called on petrol stations to adjust their ATMs to reflect the change in policy.
"The committee considered that the continued levying of charges is unjustifiable, especially after selling fuel at fair prices following the liberalisation of the fuel prices which was enforced in August this year," said Dr. Hashim Al Nuaimi, Director of the Higher Committee for Consumer Protection.
Dr. Nuaimi noted that the decision was taken to help consumers and protect their rights, and advised consumers to report any petrol pumps which continue to charge additional fee when using credit cards.

"The committee has recommended conducting a study on the price of products sold at convenience stores at the gas stations, and their price difference with sale outlets and shopping malls," he added.
"Products sold at convenience stores at gas stations should be the same as in other sale outlets, especially after the fuel prices were liberalised."
