An after-school education programme that will hone students' skills in art, poetry, and artificial intelligence (AI) was launched in Abu Dhabi on Monday.
Called 'Rize Enrichment Programmes', this unique initiative of the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (Adek) has been designed to equip students with new and essential skills in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).
Open to Abu Dhabi's public school students from Grades 1 to 12, the programme offers fun after-school sessions in nine campuses across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Registration will begin next month.
"Rize comprises a series of hands-on workshops, as well as fun and unique learning activities that not only improve students' knowledge of STEAM subjects but also spark their interest and passion for learning," said Sanad Ahmad, chairman of the student enrichment programme committee at Adek.
This annual programme groups courses into three themes: Tech, arts and culture, and math. Rize courses are held four days per week - two days will be designated for boys and two days for girls.
Students will also have the opportunity to participate in competitions and learning journeys for a more immersive educational experience. They will be selected based on attendance, merit and performance in the programme.
"Through the annual programme, competitions and learning journeys, we are confident that students will gain the exposure and capabilities necessary to bridge the knowledge and skills gap between academia and industry.
"Our goal is to empower the younger generation to become globally competitive and actively contribute to building a knowledge-based economy," Ahmad said.
By focusing on 21st-century subjects, like AI, and cultural topics such as Arabic poetry, Rize Enrichment Programmes support the objectives of Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, diversifying students' capabilities and enhancing their academic performance.
Rize will create a fun and personalised learning environment that will inspire students to learn, explore their interests, and help prepare them for university and beyond.
