The Ajman Public Prosecution has referred the the case of the 23-year-old driver who caused the McDonald's accident at a fuel station in July this year, to the Ajman criminal court.
On July 18, the driver had suffered an epileptic fit at the wheel of his pick-up, crashing the vehicle through the glass façade of the fast food restaurant in Al Hamidya area, killing two people on the spot and injuring five others. The fatalities were a 45-year-old Indian woman and a 10-year-old Iraqi boy.
Public prosecutor Salem Khalifa Al Ghafli said the prosecution completed the investigation into the accident and submitted all the medical and technical reports to the court. He also stated that the driver had been driving the car under influence of drugs and that he was also not the owner of the vehicle involved in the accident. He has also been charged with causing the deaths and injuries.
Al Ghafli has called for imposing a strict penalty on the driver, who told the police that he fell unconscious behind the wheel after an epileptic attack, causing him to step on the accelerator and plough the vehicle into the restaurant. The driver was also injured in the accident.
