A 30-year-old Pakistani was arrested by the Sharjah Police from Sharjah Airport for trying to smuggle 100 heroin capsules in his stomach. Due to the strange behaviour of the suspect - identified as F.J.H - police officials detained him upon arrival. On being interrogated, he confessed to have swallowed the heroin pills in a bid to smuggle them into the UAE. He was taken to a hospital where the capsules were removed from his stomach and he was referred to the public prosecution.
The police said that the man is part of the drug trafficking network recently busted by the UAE Ministry of Interior in collaboration with its Pakistani counterpart.
The network was being run by Pakistani national, Akil Khan, who - from Pakistan - used to supply drugs to addicts in the UAE. The criminal network included more than 40 members who smuggled the drugs in their guts to deliver it to the promoters in the UAE, all recruited by the gang leader Khan. Police department urged the public to report any criminal activity related to drug trafficking by calling 901.
