A 40-year-old man has been charged with molestation after he allegedly hugged a woman in a Dubai park.
The Dubai Court of First Instance heard that the accused, an African, hugged the woman, an Arab, and put his head on her shoulder against her will. He was drunk at the time.
The case dates back to August 25. It was registered at Al Rashidiya police station.
The defendant has been charged with molestation and consuming alcohol without a permit as he remains in detention.
The complainant recounted during the public prosecution investigation how she was caught off guard by the defendant's actions.
A Pakistani man testified that he witnessed how the accused put his hand on the complainant's shoulder.
The defendant admitted during the investigation to having grabbed the woman by the shoulder.
The trial has been adjourned to November 22.
