The Ras Al Khaimah Criminal Court has sentenced a domestic help to life in jail for killing her baby born out of wedlock and dumping it in a waste bin.
The accused, who was found guilty of having sex with her "lover", was also ordered to be deported after completion of her imprisonment.
As per court records, the case came to the fore when the sponsor of the suspect rushed her to the emergency section of the nearest hospital after she suffered excessive bleeding.
The doctors concerned told him that his domestic help was pregnant and had just delivered in an abnormal way.
The shocked man got suspicious because his housemaid was staying alone with his family. He returned home, searched the maid's room and found blood in her private toilet. He could not help searching the waste bin adjacent to his house, and to his utter surprise, found body of a newborn in it.
He then approached the RAK police and lodged a complaint against his maid and told them about her illegal affair.
The policemen initiated investigations. The housemaid, an Asian, admitted to having in an illicit affair with an Asian worker at their neighbour's house, and got pregnant.
She added that her "lover", who promised to marry her, turned her down, played tricks on her, and fled the country after he knew about her pregnancy.
To cover up her crime, the housemaid killed her baby and dumped the body in a waste bin close to the house of her sponsor.
The woman, who is already married and has children back home, was referred to the RAK Criminal Court, which found her guilty of adultery and premeditated murder, and sentenced her to life in prison, and deportation thereafter.
