An Emirati young woman, in her twenties, succumbed to fatal injuries and fractures she received after ramming into a wall of a farm here in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Police sources told Khaleej Times that the traffic accident took place a week ago when the victim lost control over her four-wheel drive car, veered off the road, and collided with a palm tree here at Al Shaghi district of Khat area.
"Initial investigations showed no clear reason for the mishap, but the victim apparently was distracted while she was on the wheel, and failed to get control over the car."
The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the accident, immediately dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, and paramedics to the site in a record time.
"The young driver was rushed to the Saqr Hospital for treatment and medical care, but she was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit because she was in a critical condition."
The victim remained in the intensive care unit for a week, but she could not make it, and breathed her last therein, according to medical sources. "The specialists and consultants here tried hard to save her life but to no avail.
As per the forensic report, the deceased sustained gruesome injuries and fractures at different parts of her body. "However, the most critical was her head injuries which ended her life."
The corpse of the young driver was moved to the morgue of the hospital from which her relatives collected and buried her at the cemetery in Ras Al Khaimah. "The case file was referred to the bodies concerned for due legal procedures.
Urging, the police sources said all drivers need to be totally focus on the road, never get distracted by anything while driving, and observe speed limit to easily regain control over the steering wheel in case of emergency situations.
