A 35-year-old Emirati man died and three others received serious injuries in a horrific accident on Saturday evening in Al Hamriya area.
The accident occurred when the driver lost control of the wheel, causing the car to overturn several times and killing him on the spot. The police operations room dispatched patrols, rescue teams and ambulances immediately to the site.
The accident has been referred for a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause.
The Sharjah Police urged motorists to abide by traffic laws at all times, in order to avoid serious and fatal accidents.
The force's statistics show a decrease in the accident mortality rate by 20 per cent during the past year, with 105 deaths, compared to 132 in 2016.
Accidents also reduced by 15 per cent in 2017 (517 accidents), compared to 2016, (608 accidents) including collisions and turnover accidents.
Run over accidents also decreased by 14 per cent in 2017, with 156 incidents compared to 182 in 2016.
