An eight-year-old boy sustained several injuries after the heavy metal gate of his house fell on him in Fujairah.
Police sources said that the little boy, identified only as M.N., was playing with his brother close to the house gate when it, unfortunately, fell on him all of a sudden.
"The recently-installed main gate appeared to have been loose and it fell on the little boy. The child was hurt badly, mainly in his head and nose."
The central operations room of the Fujairah Police, having been alerted of the accident, immediately dispatched a police patrol, an ambulance, and paramedics to the site in a record time. However, the panicked family could not wait any longer and rushed the little boy to the Fujairah hospital in their car.
The boy's father said that his two boys were playing close to the iron gate when the incident took place. "My boy was trying to close the door when it fell on him. I do not wish to open a case against the blacksmith or launch an investigation on the incident as my son is thankfully recovering."
Mohammed Abdulrahman, an Emirati national, told Khaleej Times that gate fall has become a phenomenon in the emirate of Fujairah. "So many children were either injured or killed after their house heavy metal gates fall off but these incidents keep on repeating."
In October 2017, a seven-year-old Emirati girl escaped death and received moderate injuries in Fujairah after a similar accident. In 2016, another seven-year-old Emirati girl was killed in Fujairah after the heavy metal gate of her house fell on her.
In January 2016, a four-year-old girl was killed due to the gruesome injuries she received after the metal gate of her house fell on her while she was playing in the front yard of her house at Al Jurf area in Ajman.
