There's a new pod-like, futuristic set-up at the Dubai Mall - and when you step inside, you can speak to a virtual doctor about your health, saving you a trip to the hospital.
The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) is taking its Virtual Doctor to the emirate's busiest mall, allowing more people to try the innovative healthcare service. It will be open to all until August 23.
The ministry's white podium at the Dubai Mall is easy to spot, with its interactive smart displays. Once the screens are activated, users can choose from a number of disease categories shown. Then, they will be connected to a medic who will respond to health inquiries.
New telemedicine and health monitoring services were added to the platform, with medical staff working around the clock to streamline communications and raise the public's awareness of the best ways to prevent infections.
Launched since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak in the country, Mohap's Virtual Doctor service brings together highly qualified healthcare professionals - including Emirati doctors in Canada, Turkey, and New Zealand - to address residents' inquiries and concerns about the pandemic.
The team has so far received over 97,000 Covid-related calls from across the UAE. Patients with chronic diseases can also use the platform so they can get an update on their health condition without having to visit a clinic,
The platform is available in several languages, including Arabic, English, Chinese, German, French, Indonesian, Russian, and a number of Indian languages.
