Two Asians residents, sustained serious injuries and fractures all over the bodies after a gruesome collision involving two heavy trucks at the Halila area in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.
Sources with the RAK civil defence said that the two victims were stuck in one of the trucks due to the impact of the traffic accident which took place late on Sunday.
The central operations room of the RAK Police, having been alerted of the accident, immediately dispatched traffic patrols, ambulances, civil defence teams and paramedics to the site in record time.
"The civil defence teams managed to release the trapped men using special equipment in collaboration with the ambulance and rescue teams of the RAK police."
The duo was rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment and medical care whereas the accident file was referred to the RAK traffic prosecution for due legal procedures.
Initial enactment of the mishap, in which the two heavy trucks were totally damaged, shows that the collision was due to over speeding and inattentive driving by both the drivers.
"All drivers need to strictly observe all traffic rules and regulations, be attentive on the road, keep a track of the speed limit and drive carefully at night." they urged.
The RAK civil defence department had, meanwhile, managed to put out four fires over the last two days, the same sources said.
The infernos erupted in wastes, truck wheels, house exhaust fan, and a garbage bin in a building in Ras Al Khaimah, they elaborated. "No human casualties were reported in any one these fires."
