Five months after a month-old baby was found dead in the Sharjah Corniche, the police have arrested its parents for murder. Investigations revealed that the infant was born out of wedlock.
The Ethiopian couple abandoned the baby on the corniche of Khalid lagoon in March. The infant was declared brought dead at Al Qasimi Hospital.
The police launched a manhunt to identify and arrest the baby's parents. Investigations led the police to a woman in her twenties. A DNA test established that she was the mother of the infant.
The woman confessed she had an illicit relationship with the baby's father and the child was born out of wedlock. She led the police to the father.
The couple has been referred to the Sharjah Public Prosecution on charges of murder and having an illicit relationship.
