There's a case of stranded expat. Abu Dhabi-based Leela Matti is seven months pregnant and in a spot for few months. As the gym she was working is temporarily shut and her insurance card doesn't cover delivery. She is left with no money and only option is to leave as soon as possible. Leela expects to reserve a seat in Vande Bharat Mission special flight to Hyderabad.
"I have been here for five years. I used to do a housekeeping job at a gym but it is shut and will reopen by July or August. So I have to leave here for my delivery. My husband Srujan and six-year-old son live in a village in West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh. My husband left our son with his relative and came to UAE on a visit visa to assist me in returning home. But we are stuck here due to air travel restrictions. I am unable to convince my son that we haven't abandoned him. He cries over the phone everyday," Leela said.
Leela and Srujan have registered on online portal and awaiting call from the embassy. First special flight from Abu Dhabi to Hyderabad is on Monday.
