New colourful patrols launched on Saturday will help the Dubai Police communicate better with child victims of crime. The patrols will also help the police carry out security awareness programmes and campaigns aimed at children.
The patrols launched by the police's human rights department will help remove the psychological barrier between children and the police. This will be achieved by bright colourful exteriors of the patrols; children's seats in the opposite direction to the officers' so that the child is facing the police as he communicates with them; visual aids like paintings, drawings and cartoon illustrations to calm them down; and mobile entertainment devices that will let them play recreational games and read up safety awareness messages.
"The initiative is aimed at serving families and students. It will help create a child-friendly security environment," said the police in a Press statement.
