The operations room received a call about the incident around 10:25am and immediately dispatched fire engines and water tanks from three Civil Defence stations, including Rashidiya, Al Barsha and Emirates Martyrs stations. The firefighters evacuated the vicinity and fought the high flames that were billowing heavy black smoke - which could be seen for miles around - into the sky.

The fire was put out around 12:45pm, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings. The firefighters then started the cooling operation to prevent it from reigniting.
No injuries have been reported, but most of the building materials stockpiled there were gutted in the fire, as well as many labourers' personal belongings. An eyewitness told Khaleej Times that big pieces of debris could be seen flying around and it was fortunate that no one was injured.
