ABU DHABI - Different government departments and organisations in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi have made special preparations to mark Eid Al Adha with particular stress on the road safety as the majority of the residents set out for camping out in the mountains and other recreational places.

Traditionally, Abu Dhabi residents after Eid prayers and sacrificing animals, either throng to the Corniche gardens and different parks for barbecuing or set out for camping in the Hajar Mountains from Hatta to the East Coast and the beaches Fujairah, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba, Ras Al Khaimah and Umm Al Quwain.

As a majority of the residents set out for long drives, the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Department, for their safety, has deployed additional patrols along all the highways leading out of the emirate. As for routine Eid holiday safety measures, the Civil Defence and Department of Safety, Rescue and Ambulances at the Abu Dhabi Police and the General Directorate of Civil Defence have also deployed additional safety patrols, including ambulances and paramedics on these highways.

“We will deploy additional traffic police patrols on both the internal and external roads and around public places throughout the emirate for Eid holidays for the public safety,” said Brigadier Hussain Al Harthi, Director of the department.

He further warned motorists against violation of road safety regulations, particularly against using mobile phones while driving. “All the drivers will be under watch for using phone while driving on all the roads and highways,” he warned. Al Harthi said making phone calls and text messages to exchange greetings have been identified as one of the major causes of fatal accidents.

“Most of the highways leading to other emirates will be busy during Eid holidays. Therefore drivers must avoid unnecessary overtaking. Keep distance from other vehicles and maintain the speed limit,” he advised.

Al Gharbia Police ready for rush

The Al Gharbia Police have made all arrangements for the Eid Al Adha holidays and the return of Haj pilgrims from Saudi Arabia by land.

“Patrols have been deployed in every nook and corner of the region to keep order and ensure public safety in parks, Eid musallas, markets and residential areas,” said Colonel Ajail Ali Abdullah, Deputy Director of Al Gharbia Police Directorate. The plan is designed to ensure easy flow of traffic on the roads, provide a number of ambulance and rescue vehicles in cooperation with the Department of Emergency and Public Safety, to deal with any traffic accident.

“A new well-equipped mobile workshop, as replacement to the old one, will be put on service to repair or transport the vehicles break down while plying the highways,” he noted.

The action is being taken in anticipation of an increasing number of motor vehicles and buses which use the road linking the border check posts of Al Ghuwifat and Abu Dhabi.

Al Ain abattoirs all set

AL AIN - All arrangements have been made at abattoirs in Al Ain city and the suburbs, according to Dr Salem Khalfan Al Kaabi, Director of the Public Health Department at Al Ain Municipality.

The first issue focuses on public awareness on the importance of slaughtering sacrificial livestock inside the abattoir, and the damages resulting from slaughtering outside the slaughter house.

According to Al Kaabi, all abattoirs in Al Ain (Al Manaseer, Mazeed, Bwadi Mall, Al Yahar, Suwhian, Al Haeer and Al Wagan) have been provided with all equipment and well trained Muslim butchers. Two other slaughter houses, at Al Goa and Al Faga in the outskirts of the city, will also be functioning in order to make it convenient for residents of these areas.
