A businessman, who allegedly brought three teenagers to the UAE and exploited them by hiring them as dancers in his night club, has been charged with human trafficking at the Court of First Instance.
The 38-year-old Bangladeshi is accused of exploiting the three teenagers aged, 18, 17 and 15, also from Bangladesh.
The police arrested him on October 29, 2015.
The first victim said that she arrived at the Sharjah International Airport about 45 days prior to the defendant's arrest.
She was brought to work as a dancer in the man's night club. She admitted that she lied about her age in her passport issued from her country.
She was offered to have sex with a customer and did it willingly. The other victims gave similar statements, saying that they also lied about their age and pretending to be older to travel and work.
A police lieutenant said they raided the house, where the girls stayed in Al Waheeda, Al Muraqqabat, after receiving a tip-off that the defendant was running brothels and was forcing minors into prostitution.
"We sent an undercover officer to talk to one of the teenagers (the 17-year-old). She told him she did not want to work and wish to go back to her country."
The girls told the cops they were working willingly as dancers, admitting they had lied about their ages.
The businessman told the police that he brought the girls after making sure they were above 21.
He claimed he was not aware of their real ages until two days before the raid.
The next hearing is scheduled for August 16.
